A Simple Phone Call...

It's pretty much a given that most of the women I know are extremely busy. Their lives are full with their families and children, careers, school, sports and all the extra curricular activities that come along with all those duties. And sometimes it is hard to keep up connections with our friends on a regular basis. I can go weeks without talking to a girlfriend. That doesn't mean we are in a 'fight' or something is wrong....it simply means we have been too busy with 'life' to connect.

Then, I start to miss my girlfriend time.
I need it.

I want to share, interact, bitch, laugh and cry with someone else who can relate to whatever it is I may be going through. I need to be able to 'vent' to someone of the same sex who is not in my family.

That's where the telephone or email/text messaging comes  in. A phone call to a friend speaks volumes (no pun intended). It shows that you are thinking about your friend. It can sometimes be difficult to really 'talk' in person because there are distractions. On the phone, it's just you and her...and real conversation. Just a quick call from a friend to say "Hi" to me ALWAYS lifts my spirits.

I got a phone call this morning from my bff. Those 15 minutes turned my day around. It seems we always end up discussing our 'life plan' and that gets me inspired. Today's topic was my new exercise regime. I wasn't planning on working out again today (still so sore from yesterday's hour of weight training/running). But, after the phone call and the inspirational pep talk, I hung up the phone and hopped on the treadmill.

Just a little phone call....that's all it takes. Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest statement.

My Inspiration, My Girlfriends.....

It's funny how girlfriends come along. Some I met in high school and still have the pleasure of socializing with, a few were neighbors from our newlywed days, others I met through my husbands buddy's and a few through the organized sports programs my children were involved in. And each one of them is close to heart for different reasons.
I am obviously closer to a few but I truly enjoy the company of them all. I have certain girlfriends for shopping, others for traveling with, some are shoulder's to cry on while others are there to lift me up and get me laughing. They all serve an important purpose in my life, and hopefully I'm serving a purpose in their lives, as well.
But on a regular basis, we are almost all there for 'Happy Hour'. We have a good time together...and that is my therapy.
Good Therapy!

"They're Insanely, Crazy, Amazing!? Sign Me Up!

Something caught my eye today on the Nate Berkus Show (it was a rerun of the December 7th, 2011 show: Nate & Tyra's Holiday Finds). A new kind of jeans, just for me (well, for all those forty-something + real moms anyway...).
Tyra Banks raved about 'Not Your Daughter's Jeans':

"They are insanely, crazy, amazing! ......I still put my butt in these because when you have booty and thighs and stuff and you bend over and your booty crack is coming out.... Or sometimes you have jeans and there's that space that no matter what happens you have to put a belt on....."

I've heard that "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" will help get rid of my muffin top and make it appear that I've dropped a dress size.....Well, SIGN ME UP!
DYDJ's are called the 'tummy tuck' jeans because they ride a little higher on the waist (provide more comfort) and the front of the jeans is very firm fitting (to pull you in at all the right places).

On top of a great fit, they come in a ton of different styles and colors.
Looks like I may be going shopping today :)

It's All About the Girls...

I recently started reading this short sassy book (that I love) called "The Sacred Sisterhood of Wonderful Wacky Women" by Suzy Toronto. Her book inspired me to start this new blog.
Lately, I have been feeling extra sentimental when it comes to my Girlfriends. They have filled my life with fun and adventure. They have been there to provide me with hugs and comfort. They have boosted me up when I am down and patted me on the back when I've been good.
There is nothing in the world quite like the relationship between women. I learn from them everyday and I want to use this platform to celebrate the joy of "Girlfriends".
